How to choose a chastity device (without wasting your money)

Almost everyone gets their first one wrong. Not for lack of information — there is plenty — but because it is badly ordered: a great deal is said about materials and looks, and very little about the one measurement that decides whether you will be able to wear it at all.

We do not sell devices here and we do not recommend brands, so none of this has an interest behind it.

First thing: the ring, not the cage

The cage is what you see. The ring is what determines whether the whole thing is comfortable, whether you can leave it on, and whether it is safe. It is the part that encircles tissue with blood flow.

Rule of thumb: a correct ring should not be able to slide off on its own, but should let you slip a fingertip underneath without forcing it. Too tight and it cuts off circulation. Too loose and it rubs and causes sores.

That is why a kit with several ring sizes is worth it on a first purchase, even if it costs a bit more. Guessing the size blind is a matter of luck, and a device with a single ring in the wrong size is money gone.

Measure beforehand, and measure more than once

Two things matter:

• Measure cold and at rest, not aroused. The useful measurement is the state you will spend most of your time in.
• Measure at different times and on different days. The body changes with temperature, hydration and time of day. If you get three different figures, take the largest.

Cage length is secondary: a slightly short cage is uncomfortable, but one that is too short causes constant pressure at the tip. When in doubt, take the middle size rather than the smallest.

Materials, briefly

Plastic or resin. Light, cheap, discreet at an airport scanner. Best for starting out: if you get the size wrong you have not lost much. Against: they scratch, and thin parts can snap.

Stainless steel. Durable, easy to clean, with a weight many people enjoy. Against: it is heavy — which tells over long periods — it is expensive, and it sets off security scanners.

Silicone. Flexible and comfortable for sleeping, good if you have sensitive skin. Against: it is easier to remove, so it works for the sensation but not for strict control.

3D-printed resin. Cheap and available in many shapes, but watch the finish: a badly sanded layer will chafe. Run a finger around the inside before you put it on.

What to check before buying

• Can you urinate comfortably standing up? If not, you will hate it by the second week.
• Can you rinse it without removing it? This decides whether it works for long periods.
• Are there sharp edges? Run a finger over the whole inside. An unpolished edge is a future sore.
• Is the lock simple? Mechanisms with many small parts get lost and jam.
• Are spares available? Losing one ring should not force you to buy the whole thing again.

Expensive, common mistakes

• Buying for looks. What is pretty in a photo is usually what is unbearable at six hours.
• Choosing the small size “so it grips more”. It does not grip more: it hurts, and it ends up in a drawer.
• Starting with steel. That is the purchase of someone who already knows their size, not a first one.
• Buying with no returns. If you cannot exchange the ring, you are gambling.
